Plan a day
The gate shuts at 16:30. Everything else is arithmetic.
Distance is the thing this province is usually described by, and the scale on the home page has it. But distance is not what ruins a day here. Closing time is. Erawan stops admitting visitors at 15:30, Hellfire Pass shuts at 16:00, and Highway 323 has no lighting once you are past the towns — so the last hour of a badly planned day is spent driving in the dark past the thing you came to see.
Tell us what you want to stand in front of and we will work backwards from the gate to a departure time, then quote the car. If what you are asking for does not fit in a day, we will say so.

National park entry is 300 THB an adult and 150 THB a child at Erawan, Sai Yok and Huay Mae Khamin, paid at the gate, and is not part of what we quote. Swimming at Erawan was suspended park-wide on 16 September 2025 and we have found no source confirming it has been lifted — plan a day that still works dry.
Working backwards to a departure time
These are the four shapes a day here actually takes, with the driving hours attached, and below them the one thing that is not a day at all. They come from chapter 8 of the guide, which sets them out hour by hour.
- 05:30 Erawan from a Bangkok hotel, and the bridge on the way back 3h30 to the gate, 4h at the falls, 1h15 back to town, 2h30 to Bangkok. 13 hours door to door, 7h30 of it in the car.
- 06:00 The war sites from a Bangkok hotel 2h30 in, then the bridge, the Railway Centre, the cemetery, lunch, Chungkai and JEATH, leaving town at 15:25. Just under 12 hours door to door, 6h35 in the car.
- 07:30 Erawan from a Kanchanaburi hotel At the gate for opening with 1h15 of driving. This is the version that works: the whole cut-off problem disappears once you slept in town.
- 08:00 Hellfire Pass and Sai Yok in one run 1h20 to the pass for opening, then north to Sai Yok Yai, then back. About 200 km of driving and you are home before dusk.
- — Sangkhlaburi 220 km and 3.5 to 4 hours each way. There is no departure time that makes this a day trip, and we will tell you so rather than sell you one.
