Plan a day
Distance is the thing this province is usually described by, and the scale on the home page has it. But distance is not what ruins a day here. Closing time is. Erawan stops admitting visitors at 15:30, Hellfire Pass shuts at 16:00, and Highway 323 has no lighting once you are past the towns — so the last hour of a badly planned day is spent driving in the dark past the thing you came to see.
Tell us what you want to stand in front of and we will work backwards from the gate to a departure time, then quote the car. If what you are asking for does not fit in a day, we will say so.
| Site | From town | Opens | Last entry | Shuts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Erawan Falls | 65–75 km | 08:00 | 15:30 | 16:30 |
| The hardest cut-off in the province. No entry after 15:30, and the rangers turn people back off the upper tiers earlier than that. | ||||
| Hellfire Pass | 80–85 km | 09:00 | — | 16:00 |
| The Interpretive Centre closes about three weeks each May. Free entry; the audio guide is reported to take a refundable 200 THB deposit. | ||||
| Sai Yok Yai | 100–113 km | 08:00 | — | 16:30 |
| Falls straight into the river, so unlike Erawan there is always water in it. | ||||
| Huay Mae Khamin | about 110 km | 08:00 | — | 16:30 |
| 2.5 to 3 hours each way on a slow road. A whole day for one waterfall, and the middle tiers have dried out completely in a bad year. | ||||
| Thailand–Burma Railway Centre | about 1 km | 09:00 | — | 16:00 |
| In town, facing the war cemetery. An hour and a quarter is the honest figure for it. | ||||
| Kanchanaburi War Cemetery | in town | 08:00 | — | 17:00 / 12:00 Sat |
| Saturday closes at noon. Nobody publishes Sunday hours anywhere we can find. | ||||
| Bridge over the River Kwai | about 5 km | any hour | — | no gate |
| Walk it before about 09:00 or after about 16:00; the coach parties own the middle of the day. | ||||
National park entry is 300 THB an adult and 150 THB a child at Erawan, Sai Yok and Huay Mae Khamin, paid at the gate, and is not part of what we quote. Swimming at Erawan was suspended park-wide on 16 September 2025 and we have found no source confirming it has been lifted — plan a day that still works dry.
These are the four shapes a day here actually takes, with the driving hours attached, and below them the one thing that is not a day at all. They come from chapter 8 of the guide, which sets them out hour by hour.
Two ways. The messengers are faster and get you a person; the form reaches the same desk and is easier if you have a list of stops to paste.
